Taiwan Part 2

Taiwan Part 2 let's go!

IMG_4170

Part 2 will be on the 3 day trip of South of Taiwan I went with the bf & his family & friends =)

I stayed in Hsinchu, a city north of Taiwan, during my stay there. Taiwan is a small country so travelling to the south of Taiwan by car only took a 4-5 hours? We stayed on the south side for 3 days & 2 nights. It was fun despite not knowing how to communicate well with others.

Taiwan Part 1

IMG_4008

Finally updating this blog. After being back home for 2 months lol I WAS initially excited to upload all my photos from Taiwan and share them but the thought of watermarking each and every single photo and uploading big-sized high-resolution photos didn't appeal to me >_> So I decided not to photoshop any photos and you guys get the great pleasure of seeing every photo in its raw beauty xD

Anyways, so this shall be Part 1 and be image heavy =)

Taiwan Shopping Haul

This post starts the Taiwan series and because I have waaay too many photos I decided to start off with something easy - my small shopping haul.

I'm not sure why I bought so many NATURAL lashes since I already have long lashes...kind of wished I bought more dramatic ones but oh well~~

Two phone plugs...I think I prefer the pearl blue one more than the leopard bow one as the two balls attached literally look like two balls =_=
These are really common everywhere in Taiwan! So many to choose from! The only downside is when you're taking a photo, the charm gets in the way.

I was thinking maybe to cut one of the balls off~Thoughts?

Back in Blogging Action!

IMG_4464

I've been away for so long since I've been overseas in Taiwan and I have a tonne of photos to sort through! I didn't take as many as I thought, only perhaps 500+? Many of them are repeats of the same thing with different angles. The above photo was taken at a villa I stayed at Little Liuchiu Island, somewhere south of Taiwan ! The colors of the sunset is absolutely beautiful. I didn't want to put it through photoshop because I wanted to retain the "raw" beauty of mother nature.

The trip to Taiwan was good and bad~So many unlucky things happened to me, like getting sick the second day I got there, getting bruised by go-carting and nearly burning my leg on someone's scooter! But definitely the fun and happy side of the trip over weighed the bad things. I'm planning on doing posts on them when I can sort out my photos and upload them onto flickr (blogger does a terrible job of compressing photos ><)

Until then!

My Weekend - Birthdays !

Southbank, Brisbane

I've been procrastinating a whole lot this past week because I haven't started a number of assignments that are due in about 3-4 weeks times so I've been feeling...free? So I've been doing a lot of non-uni-related stuff lol

WED 2nd MAY
I got to watch The Avengers!! Apparently it was a 2.5hr film but it didn't feel like to me. Perhaps I've gotten use to watching films that run that long now thanks to uni. It's a good film but I personally wouldn't want to watch it again! Superheroes and action are not my favorite genres but The Avengers did have comedy in it =) I still enjoyed it but I just don't see what all the hype is about.

Then after the film, my bf & I did a mini photoshoot because I brought along my DSLR. It mainly consisted of coupley photos so I'm not gonna post them up lol we were really just practicing our photography skills so a number of them were blurry or were taken at unflattering angles. Here's one I'm happy to share but according to the lovely bf, I looked stoned T_T (buddy, you took this one!)
Untitled

FRIDAY 4th MAY
Attended a friend's birthday at a bar in the city. It was actually pretty good! I'm not fond of bars or pubs but it was just a great chill out session and meeting new people where you could actually hear one another talk!

SAT 5th MAY
Attended the Buddha Festival and just ate and ate LOL Buddha Festival is the same every year but it was another great day to just hang out with the bf =) (FYI: Buddha Festival is held in celebration for Buddha's Birthday)

IMG_3618

This part of the show was pretty cool and still baffles me. There are two performers and every now and then their mask would just switch to a completely different mask. You can see in the first photo the lady has a BLUE mask on but later on changes throughout the performance. It's really intriguing!!! Because there is nothing underneath their costumes (or none that the audience could see) that would trigger the change. Initially, I thought it was whenever they touched their mask with their hands but at one point, both their hands were up in the air and it automatically changed!

[REVIEW] Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

I first learned about this hair care product through another blogger and was immediately interested in it. My hair has been through so much damage (dyeing, blow drying, straightening & curling blah so much ==) so I had been on the lookout for a haircare product.

So...What is it?
According to the website, it states: "Our Deep Repair Masque is a hair reconstructor that will penetrate and rebuild damaged hair for improved shine and elasticity.
- Enriched with Macadamia & Argan oils
- Deep nourishment & long-lasting conditioning
- Ultra-conditioning hair reconstruction.

It's a 250ml/8.5 fl oz tub. The product itself is thick and rich and looks kind of gross to me T__T

How to Use?
Liberally comb through clean, wet hair and allow up to seven (7) minutes of penetration before rinsing.

I use my hands/fingers to scoop out the product then apply to my hair. Applying is pretty easy and isn't messy.
The tricky thing about the instructions it doesn't say whether to wash out with warm or cold water...so I've been using cold water to rinse it, since I heard cold water can help make your hair less frizzy. After I wash out, my hair is SUPERRR SMOOTH & SILKY!

This part really confused me as I was washing the product out. I could FEEL instantly how smooth my hair was and kept washing & washing, thinking the product was still in my hair but it wasn't! My hair was silky and felt so GOOD to touch (that sounds weird...), I couldn't stop touching my hair after I did the treatment~

Negatives About the Product

  • The Price T_T

I had to buy this for around $40AUD and that is expensive ><

Final Verdict
I love how amazing and lovely my hair feels after using it but I'm not going to repurchase. I'm certain there are other haircare products that can do the same thing for a lower price.

Roses and Roses...

Roses002-cropped

I was bored yesterday so I decided to play Dress Up & Model lol I was actually deciding what look to do for this coming Friday since it is someone's birthday party. And I thought since I'm all dressed up I'd try and do a mini photoshoot with myself. Can I just say, it is so hard T___T Being the model, the photographer, the props person and the makeup person all by yourself is pretty tough!!!

I'm kind of regretting I didn't purchase the DSLR that had a flip-out screen (easy to selca!! XD) but I made do with what I had. I had a whole box full of rose petals from my film assessment so I thought I'd reused them for fun. But it was so hard to time the throwing of the rose petals correctly because they fall pretty quickly and then I'd end up some blurry photo of looking retarded lol.

Here are some of the nice ones out of the hundred photos I took. Looking at all the photos lined up I realised how inconsistent my Photoshopping skills are lol sorry !! Please don't hurt me ~~

[REVIEW] GEO Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown

GEO Princess Mimi Brown

Base Curve: 8.6mm
Diameter: 15mm
Water Content: 38%
Life Span : 1 year disposal
Manufacturer/Origin: South Korea
Purchased from: Paffu Shop on Fb

To start off with, this is my second pair of circle lenses from the Princess Mimi range, with the first being the Sesame Gray, which I absolutely adore! ♥♥♥ I have worn these lenses about a month now. I DO NOT wear circle lenses one a daily basis (I normally just stick with my glasses or pre-scripted contact lenses) & I have worn these lenses around 6-8hrs per wear.

Color:
Black limbal ring with dark brown and a reddish tinge in the inner circle.

Comfort:
Perfectly comfortable =) Best range from GEO in terms of comfort. I did wear them one night for clubbing from 8pm to 4am-ish (that's around 8hrs, 2 hrs past the recommended 6 hrs of wearing circle lenses) and my eyes were still fine. Just a bit tired but no redness or itchiness like that.

Enlargement:
Definitely huge enlargement! And obvious too!

Overall:
I was hesitant about purchasing such dark brown lenses but I loved the comfort of the Geo Sesame Greys I was keen to try the same line again. I'm happy with these lenses. Paired with falsies, they give it that dolly appearance. They're not extremely vibrant but natural enough to wear without freaking anyone out.

I like the packaging it comes in. It's safer and sturdier than just receiving the vials.
I have not yet opened the Geo Lattes but I am keen to try them ~

I've already a number of photos of myself wearing these lenses in past posts but I took some today as well. These are straight off the camera, no editing. I would have really like to though...that dirty fringe of mine T__T
This one was taken in natural lighting. Wore no falsies but they helped give me the dolly look for today, combined with my makeup ^_^

National Youth Week 2012 !

National Youth Week 2012
I volunteered to help out with the launch of National Youth Week this year and, gotta say, it was the most chill volunteer job I've ever done. Like literally. I don't do much except watch the performances and cheer the performers on. I thought since it was the launch of the event it'd be super busy but all the staff were well organised.

So what is National Youth Week?
It's a week long event running from Friday 13th April to Sunday 22nd April with many different events held and catered to young people of Australia. There are workshops ranging from knowing to do horror makeup and film projects and dancing and more.

Before heading out onto the job =)

One of the fun perks of volunteer positions is meeting new people =) Met a cute girl I was working with, who we found out we both share the same birthday in the same month with only 4 days apart! =O Same age too!

Possibilities of conjoined birthday parties, maybe? ;D

Until next time~

Happy Harmony Day!

Today is Harmony Day and my uni celebrated it today by showing performances from different cultures.

So WHAT is Harmony Day?

"Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia on 21 March each year.
It's a day when all Australians celebrate our cultural diversity."
The continuing message for Harmony Day in 2012 is that Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country,
regardless of their background. It's a time to reflect on where Australia has come from, recognising the traditional owners of this land. It's also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live."
- harmony.gov.au

Taken straight off the Harmony Day website lol

This message should be reinforced more, not just here in Australia but worldwide. There are still so many racist idiots out there. Being born and growing up in Australia, I have no issues with people from other cultures. From a young age, I was taught about getting along with others, didn't know anything about racism until I got to high school. That's when the racism and bullying started for me. Since I graduated from high school, things have become much better but still, I still get the occasional racist remark.

*sigh*

A friend once told me (well on his Facebook status lol) that it's better to feel sorry rather than get angry at the person who's making fun of you because one, they're not lucky enough to know about different cultures and secondly, don't have the ability to speak a different language.

Anywhos, enough about that because it's a waste of time dwelling on racist losers when that time can be spent making new friends from different countries ^_^

Meeting Wong Fu Productions!!!

Wong Fu Productions March 2012

Last night I had the amazing opportunity to see Wong Fu Productions! I was so pumped for it when I first heard they were coming to Brisbane but I really didn't want to miss out. I almost did but thankfully I got my friend & her bf to come with me =)

It was a really chilled environment where Wes & Phil just talked to us about their experience and growth of Wong Fu Productions. Sadly, Ted wasn't there due to personal issues (that's what Phil said) and had to stay back at LA. BUT at least there was Wes <3 oh my gosh~~~Wes, WHY ARE YOU SUCH A CUTIE???!! XD ahaha They're both really funny cool guys and it would be super awesome I reckon if we had the opportunity to hang out with them.

Throughout the seminar (is that what you would call it? O_o) they played videos of their work including an exclusive video that had not been posted online yet. Felt really special and exciting to view something other people have not yet seen ^^

Then it was a quick Q&A session with the audience then it was time for Meet & Greet! XD We told to stay seated and Wes & Phil would come through each aisle to sign one thing. I saw one guy getting his Macbook Pro signed =O That's amazing that he would do that!!!! My friend and I got the guys to sign the poster that was being sold as we walked in. (I'm so grateful to my friends that bought the merchandise because I had no cash on me T__T)

Then after that we were told there wouldn't be enough time to have individual shots for everyone so we had to take it in groups but -ahem- I managed to =P My only regret is not hugging Wes =( and Phil too ~~

Anyways I'll end this post with the best part: photos =)

LOVE

I went to watch LOVE yesterday and it's an alright movie. I found a lot of hype about it on Facebook but I personally didn't find the movie that spectacular. To sum it up, this drama and comedy move is about:

"Eight people try to end their loneliness by searching for that one person to love, who can make their life complete." (IMDb.com)

There are the usual set of characters: rich girl, poor girl, poor boy, single mum, little boy who wants a daddy etc etc ... Each of them have their own story lines but each characters are connected.

The comedy side of the movie was actually pretty funny. Of course it's not the typical Hollywood in-your-face kind of humour but still funny. For example, there are two girls fighting because one of them slept with the best friend's bf and she's pregnant.

Girl 1: So whose baby is it??
Girl 2: (pause) It's mine.

Everyone in the audience cracked up laughing at that line because typically you'd expect the girl to reply with the guy's name instead of saying that.

The director Doze Niu also stars in his own movie as the rich Uncle Lu~The one scene that had an impact on me was when Niu was sitting outside in front of his huge mansion crying. I found that scene spoke a lot, meaning doesn't matter how rich you may be, you can still be unhappy or lonely if you don't have someone to love. Or something like that >< I'm really bad with these kind of analysing >< Would I rewatch it? Personally, no. It was a nice film but it didn't captivate me that well. Here's the trailer:

Back to Uni! =D

Yesterday was the first day back of uni and my first lecture was at 5pm lol
I realised I had enrolled into a second year subject for my sub-major and I had no clue as to what the lecturer was talking about because he kept referring back to "foundations units that you did last year" D= I did no foundation units last year for Ent. Industries!! D= So I promptly unenrolled from that unit as soon as got home lol

After the lecture I went out for a night stroll with my DSLR and took a few snaps. Didn't take that many good ones because night photography proved more difficult than I expected! Lots of camera shake and blurs because I didn't have a tripod or I moved the camera too early, even when I had it rested on a smooth surface ... Fail, much? =__="

Here are the snaps. They're not edited but I took them in JPG rather than RAW (Still trying to work that out!!)

I really like this kind of composition where the "lines" draws to the centre. Just wish the metal bar was out of the way.

My thoughts is that the only pretty side of the Brisbane river is the casino area where the lights change different colours onto the river.

Other side of river...the giant Ferris Wheel

Last Friday night I went out to my bf's friend's birthday. I've only met the guy once so I was bit surprised he invited me. I thought we were going to out clubbing but it was just a chill lounge bar kind of environment.

I'm wearing Geo Princess Mimi Chocolate Brown!!! Wasn't sure how I'd feel about these because I just adore my Sesame Grays but they're pretty good!

Ps. I've debating on a new blogspot name ! I got rid of "vk-yume" because that was when I was into jrock and vk stood for "visual kei". Now I'm no longer into that and trying to find something that suits me now! FOr now, I've chosen "pearls-and-bows" but I'll probably change it soon. I wanted to use part of my name in the URL but it wouldn't let me T^T
