My Weekend - Birthdays !

Southbank, Brisbane

I've been procrastinating a whole lot this past week because I haven't started a number of assignments that are due in about 3-4 weeks times so I've been feeling...free? So I've been doing a lot of non-uni-related stuff lol

WED 2nd MAY
I got to watch The Avengers!! Apparently it was a 2.5hr film but it didn't feel like to me. Perhaps I've gotten use to watching films that run that long now thanks to uni. It's a good film but I personally wouldn't want to watch it again! Superheroes and action are not my favorite genres but The Avengers did have comedy in it =) I still enjoyed it but I just don't see what all the hype is about.

Then after the film, my bf & I did a mini photoshoot because I brought along my DSLR. It mainly consisted of coupley photos so I'm not gonna post them up lol we were really just practicing our photography skills so a number of them were blurry or were taken at unflattering angles. Here's one I'm happy to share but according to the lovely bf, I looked stoned T_T (buddy, you took this one!)

FRIDAY 4th MAY
Attended a friend's birthday at a bar in the city. It was actually pretty good! I'm not fond of bars or pubs but it was just a great chill out session and meeting new people where you could actually hear one another talk!

SAT 5th MAY
Attended the Buddha Festival and just ate and ate LOL Buddha Festival is the same every year but it was another great day to just hang out with the bf =) (FYI: Buddha Festival is held in celebration for Buddha's Birthday)

This part of the show was pretty cool and still baffles me. There are two performers and every now and then their mask would just switch to a completely different mask. You can see in the first photo the lady has a BLUE mask on but later on changes throughout the performance. It's really intriguing!!! Because there is nothing underneath their costumes (or none that the audience could see) that would trigger the change. Initially, I thought it was whenever they touched their mask with their hands but at one point, both their hands were up in the air and it automatically changed!

National Youth Week 2012 !

National Youth Week 2012
I volunteered to help out with the launch of National Youth Week this year and, gotta say, it was the most chill volunteer job I've ever done. Like literally. I don't do much except watch the performances and cheer the performers on. I thought since it was the launch of the event it'd be super busy but all the staff were well organised.

So what is National Youth Week?
It's a week long event running from Friday 13th April to Sunday 22nd April with many different events held and catered to young people of Australia. There are workshops ranging from knowing to do horror makeup and film projects and dancing and more.

Before heading out onto the job =)

These guys are called the Green Gremlins and they performed funny skits.
At one stage, one of the guys bit into a raw potato D=

One of the fun perks of volunteer positions is meeting new people =) Met a cute girl I was working with, who we found out we both share the same birthday in the same month with only 4 days apart! =O Same age too!

Possibilities of conjoined birthday parties, maybe? ;D

Until next time~

Happy Harmony Day!

Today is Harmony Day and my uni celebrated it today by showing performances from different cultures.

So WHAT is Harmony Day?

"Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia on 21 March each year.
It's a day when all Australians celebrate our cultural diversity."
The continuing message for Harmony Day in 2012 is that Everyone Belongs, which means all Australians are a welcome part of our country,
regardless of their background. It's a time to reflect on where Australia has come from, recognising the traditional owners of this land. It's also about community participation, inclusiveness and respect – celebrating the different cultures that make Australia a great place to live."
- harmony.gov.au

Taken straight off the Harmony Day website lol

This message should be reinforced more, not just here in Australia but worldwide. There are still so many racist idiots out there. Being born and growing up in Australia, I have no issues with people from other cultures. From a young age, I was taught about getting along with others, didn't know anything about racism until I got to high school. That's when the racism and bullying started for me. Since I graduated from high school, things have become much better but still, I still get the occasional racist remark.

*sigh*

A friend once told me (well on his Facebook status lol) that it's better to feel sorry rather than get angry at the person who's making fun of you because one, they're not lucky enough to know about different cultures and secondly, don't have the ability to speak a different language.

Anywhos, enough about that because it's a waste of time dwelling on racist losers when that time can be spent making new friends from different countries ^_^

Meeting Wong Fu Productions!!!

Wong Fu Productions March 2012

Last night I had the amazing opportunity to see Wong Fu Productions! I was so pumped for it when I first heard they were coming to Brisbane but I really didn't want to miss out. I almost did but thankfully I got my friend & her bf to come with me =)

It was a really chilled environment where Wes & Phil just talked to us about their experience and growth of Wong Fu Productions. Sadly, Ted wasn't there due to personal issues (that's what Phil said) and had to stay back at LA. BUT at least there was Wes <3 oh my gosh~~~Wes, WHY ARE YOU SUCH A CUTIE???!! XD ahaha They're both really funny cool guys and it would be super awesome I reckon if we had the opportunity to hang out with them.

Throughout the seminar (is that what you would call it? O_o) they played videos of their work including an exclusive video that had not been posted online yet. Felt really special and exciting to view something other people have not yet seen ^^

Then it was a quick Q&A session with the audience then it was time for Meet & Greet! XD We told to stay seated and Wes & Phil would come through each aisle to sign one thing. I saw one guy getting his Macbook Pro signed =O That's amazing that he would do that!!!! My friend and I got the guys to sign the poster that was being sold as we walked in. (I'm so grateful to my friends that bought the merchandise because I had no cash on me T__T)

Then after that we were told there wouldn't be enough time to have individual shots for everyone so we had to take it in groups but -ahem- I managed to =P My only regret is not hugging Wes =( and Phil too ~~

Anyways I'll end this post with the best part: photos =)

Belated Valentine's Day Post!

Don't you just hate it when you're capped when you want to blog? Or in my case, to watch One Piece? LOL I've become an addict to One Piece ever since my bf introduced it to me ~ I use to scorn him for watching it and reading the anime but hey hey, tt's actually pretty getting exciting now though ! They're FINALLY reached the Grand Line! =D -coughs- ok onto post~~

This year I was really happy to spend my first Valentine's Day with someone because I've always been envious of other couples who did all the usual cutesy-couple-y stuff, like receiving flowers and chocolate and being pampered with love from one another T^T But this year was different =3 It was a lovely dinner at a pasta restaurant in the city and I enjoyed it very much.

Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to take a full length photo but I see myself wearing the same outfit in future so stay tuned! =D

My look for the night~

Miss Shop platform heels ♥ ♥ ♥ These are amazing heels! They are death and love ! Extremely comfortable to walk in, didn't need to put in insoles or wear bandages but they are also very scary to walk in because they so high (well higher than usual for me >< )and the way it's designed at the front. Notice how it's not completely flat but goes up slightly? I almost fell down twice because of it!

Unexpectedly received a rose and a box of chocolate from the bf!
I say unexpected because I really wasn't expecting him to go out and buy them lol

Sadly the rose is already dying =(

Self-explantory lol

And another self-vain photo. My eyes look really creepy here T__T I'm wearing GEO Olive Wings in Brown

Hope other people had a lovely Valentine's day =)

It's February!!!

I have the strangest habit (if you can call it that) to be posting at the strangest hour @_@

This just a rambling post about my life so far ~ GET EXCITED YO ~!!! =D

Nothing really major happened since last post so I'll just highlight the main events.

1. Celebrated my brother's birthday with this puppy cake purchased from Bread Top. They had three types available: Tiramisu, chocolate or mixed fruit. Since it was going to be a family thing, I knew my mother wouldn't eat chocolate and I wasn't sure how my brother would react to tiramisu so mixed fruit was the safest option. It actually tasted pretty good!

2. Chinese New Year - Year of the Dragon
Extremely belated but didn't really celebrate it. Just had an expensive dinner with family. Went to China Town to see the festives with friends. Went clubbing as the club was celebrating the CNY.

3. QUT Connect Training
This year I'm one of the QUT Connectors that will be helping commencing students to get to know one another and let them know about uni life in Orientation Week. At first I was real hesitant because the word 'volunteer' makes me kind of go ... >__> But when I went to first day of training it was super fun meeting other people from other faculties and learning (or rather playing) games as a way to break the ice between new people. I didn't think I would get it because in the interview they were critiquing us on our speaking skills and I stuttered a lot T__T So I was real surprised that I got it.

I can't wait to pass down knowledge that I wished I had learnt about when I was a first year uni student and meet (potential) new students in my major!!
Took a photo with this lovely girl I met in the interview and hung out with throughout the training period. She is so much fun to talk to ! <3
Photo came straight from my phone through the blogger app so that's why it's small!

My goal now is to be more motivated and inspired to go to the gym more often and work on my photography skills!

Happpy Belated New Year for 2012!

Another year has gone past and 2012 is going to be another exciting year, hopefully!

Quick summary of 2011 for me~!
1. Completed my first year of uni and realized how difficult it actually is compared to TAFE lol
2. Said goodbye to being a teenager and turned 20 years old D=
3. Lost a number of friends but gained a few new ones
4. Met a cute guy, who is now my boyfriend =3
5. Still working at the same work place for 3 years now...now onto the 4th year T__T

Mmmm...to be honest I really hated last year. Uni especially! There was a number of reasons:
I felt so dumb because I didn't understand certain things. For example, one of the subjects required us to really look deep into subjects and I remember one of the very first assignments was to write a short essay on who or what inspired and/or motivated us to study the creative industry course. I wrote Lucy Liu as my inspiration but when I discussed it with my tutor, she kept pressing me to delve deeper into the matter "WHY Lucy Liu? Why not another actor?" etc etc Turns out all I needed to do was find a reference that backed up what I was trying to say. And I realised that is how all assignments are in uni == I'm such a dumbass~

Plus I felt out of my depth...there were so many other students that were so much better at doing short films and KNEW how to operate a camera with the apertures and exposure values, even NOW I'm still trying to get my head around it. And also I felt really alone because I didn't know how to make friends >< But once I gained some friends classes became more enjoyable ~ Also I'm quite sad that I lost some dear friends. Some people I don't know why they decided to block me on Facebook but it's alright I suppose. We've drifted too far apart to even keep a conversation going for long so why bother continue to be friends? Some people I understand but one of my goals for this year is to move on from those people that were holding me back and meet new people ~ Actually my goals for 2012 are the pretty much the same every year LOL - study harder~!!!
I'm going to make more effort to be in the uni library to study diligently! And get more than just a 'Pass' mark !

- gym more~!!!
Not fat but I always feel better after a work out and plus I have to pay for membership >_>

- Save more money~!!!
Must.stop.online.shopping! haha xD And buying unless unnecessary things ~ Whenever I look at my taxable income, I'm amazed at how much I earn in a financial year but at the same time I'm annoyed at myself for

- manage time better~!!!
I'm pretty much ALWAYS tardy when it comes to any event...I'm sure my friends hate it

That's it really~~~

So for this year new year's eve I was my bf and we just watched the fireworks at midnight at South Bank. As usual it was packed and the fireworks in Brisbane were...meh...seriously! Compared to like what I see on television for HK or Taiwan it's just bleh =_= I don't even know why I bother sometimes but I'm just happy I started the new year with my bf =)

One side view of Brisbane

I thought this photo turned out quite interesting. It's so bright green!

And to finish this post, self-vain photo of myself =P I'm wearing my new lenses: Geo Bambi Sesame Gray! They're such a beautiful vivid shimmery grey!

GOLD COAST TRIP!!!

Well, actually I went yesterday but was too tired to blog about it until now. (actually Im still really tired but Im going to do it anyways). It was great to get away from uni assessments and just relax.

So I met up with my friends at Central train station and train-ed it to Helensvale train station. From there we caught the bus to Harbour Town. At Harbour Town, I bought this cute black ruffled skirt from Portmans. Impulse buying! >< Then we headed to Surfers Paradise, which meant we caught another bus.

Ate lunch before heading off to the beach! It was such lovely weather!!! The morning started off overcast and rainy but by the time we got there, it was sunny! And a tad windy ><

Photos!

The place we ate at for lunch didn't have a sign so I took their business card XD

my couple friend, such a funny pair xD

lonely me~~I was mostly behind the camera that day

We spent an hour at the beach then went to Timezone. We played so many fun games =D My favourite were Laser Skirmish & Dodgem Cars =)

My friend & I found this funny mirror that could make you look skinny, fat or tall!!!

Ended the day with a spectacular view of this ferris wheel while waiting for the bus to go back home =)

All in all, it was a great day =)

EDIT: wanted to show off the Mashimaro toy my friend got for me with the points she & her bf collected xD yaaaah so cute!!! >< The TOY! not me, lol~
